Hungry Hills

In 1950 after two years in a home for boys, Snit Mandolin, 15, returns home to the hill country. Faced with a community that shuns him and unable to scratch a living from his Aunt's fading farm, Snit falls in with Johnny Swift, 16, another outcast. Johnny makes moonshine for the townspeople who want no part of them. As the boys work together they become fast friends. Inseparable and triumphant.

The adventure is interrupted by enigmatic and unpredictable Roy Kane, the district's private cop. A cat and mouse game with the boys begins.

Dogged by Kane, betrayed by a bootlegger, the boys' partnership ends, their bond of friendship broken. Alone once more in a community that rejects them, Snit and Johnny are at a crossroads.
