Credits Screenplay Michael Turner Bruce LaBruce Director Bruce LaBruce Producer Jennifer Jonas Co-Producer Juergen Bruening Cast Bruce LaBruce Synopsis Von Gloeden is an exploration of the work of turn of the 19th century German photographer, Wilhelm Von Gloeden, famous for his portraits of nude Sicilian boys from Taormina. The screenplay was conceived as an homage to the infamous career of present day iconoclastic filmmaker, Bruce LaBruce. Von Gloeden, to be directed by LaBruce, exploits his comic talents and reputation as a porn star and film director (No Skin Off My Ass, Super 8 1/2, Hustler White and The Rasberry Reich) by having him star in the film playing himself making a documentary about Von Gloeden. While researching his modern day film on location in Italy, LaBruce has his own struggles with the treacherous line between pornography and art just as Von Gloeden did. Screenwriter, Michael Turner, best known as the novelist of international best seller, The Pornographer's Poem & Hard Core Logo, has proven to be a master of narrative reinvention. His first screenplay, American Whiskey Bar and the subsequent live feature it spawned has been called "original, screamingly funny and brilliant." Unconventional but always engaging, Turner is an artist in the truest sense, daring, darkly humorous and inspired. Status In development with Telefilm Canada and The Harold Greenberg Fund. |
